Best. Toy. Ever.

(No, not the chair.)
Things have been (relatively) quiet around here lately. Kate's parents came up for a visit last weekend to celebrate Kate's birthday. Poor Kate, her actual birthday was pretty crummy. As soon as she got home from a not-so-great day at work, I handed her a grumpy boy and left to teach. Her birthday dinner? Leftovers. To make up for such a yucky birthday, we went to Red Robin last night for free birthday dinner. (And had an adventure with Colin and Amy in the process.) And Saturday night we are celebrating by leaving Jack with Colin and Amy and going out for the evening. I think it is the first time we will have done something without Jack since he was six weeks old.

Jack has been a complete bear the past week. It could be new teeth, but I am not completely sure. He adjusted his own sleep schedule earlier in the week, and has now decided to get up at 4:30 every morning--even if we keep him up later. Additionally, he is refusing to nap, which makes for one tired and very grumpy little boy.
But we did find a new favorite toy this week. We were watching Eebee's Adventures--his favorite show--and they were playing with a flashlight. Desperate for a way to mollify/distract the demon-child, I dug out our flashlight for him to try. He absolutely loved it. Who needs all of these fancy toys that he has when common household items are so fascinating? Now excuse me while I go dig around in the utility drawer for another entertaining "toy."
