Inclement weather, even when it is not really that bad, brings out the "best" in the weather forecasters. Here are my favorite quotes from the past couple of days.
Heard on CNN: "And Detroit could receive as much as two feet! (Largest amount predicted elsewhere--12". Amount received--6"
Heard on The Weather Channel: "It's really bad in the Midwest right now. Indianapolis has been hit hard and Detroit is a complete mess!"
From what a family member said, I'm sure it was bad in Indiana. But no snow had fell here at that point.
Heard on TWC (Same guy a minute later): "You may want to change your travel plans if you are flying into places such as Chicago and Detroit. They are experiencing very long delays. Right now, Chicago is looking at three hours and Detroit flights are delayed zero minutes. "
And my personal favorite, also heard on TWC: "We have two major storm systems in the US right now, but let's focus on the one in the East as it is taking presidents."
Yes, she really did say "presidents" instead of "precedence." So, if they named snowstorms like they do hurricanes, would have this been Lee Harvey Oswald? Air Force One?

The snow and the wind was bad enough that they cancelled evening classes at Washtenaw last night. This if the first time I have had to deal with a school closing as the teacher. It made feel like quite the humbug because I was not overly excited. On one hand, I was glad that I did not have to drive home in the storm at 9 p.m. But on the other, now I have to figure out how to readjust the syllabus and fit everything in that needs to be taught. Oh well, at least I got an extra evening at home with Kate and Jack because of it.

My favorite thing on the Weather Channel yesterday was the little radar that kept popping up with the caption "FEBRUARY FURY"!
Poor Mike Seidel, had to stand outside the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame through all of that.
Ha! Two feet in Detroit? Where do they find these people? It's lucky that the UP is too small to get much press, otherwise it would be that everyday.
Got to love those zero delay flights - why are they never the flights I'm on?
