I started this post a month ago and never finished it. I wish I had, as it would have been much easier. You see, right around his birthday it was rather easy to discern which words Jack could say:
Mamama
Dada
Uh-Oh!
Light (ite)--A bizarre one, I know. He would go around pointing to the lights, shouting "ite!"
Dance (Dnce!)
No No (Ne ne)
There were other words that he could kind of say, but he was mostly just parroting us when we would say them and not necessarily attaching the words to a concrete idea or object. But, holy cow, he is saying all kinds of things now and it is hard to separate the words he really knows from sounds he might just be making. I will try to give a list, although some of these may be an eager father's imagination. I will indicate the suspect words with ???. And I will put an approximation of what he is actually saying.
Peek (eek!)
Kitty (i-ee) ??? Occasionally just make a kitty noise (No, not meow. Our cat does not meow. It is more like Bowr!) Have also heard "titty."
Cheese (eez) ??? Could also be "please?" Also refers to cheese as "Numnumnum," yelled in a growly voice. The boy likes cheese.
What's this/that? (dis?)
Weeee!
Shoes (oosh)
Hi
Bye (Says Hi...)
Grass (rsh)
Yes (Yeah, with a head nod)
Fan ( Something that sounds vaguely Czech, but nothing at all like fan. He only says it when he points to the fan, though.) ???
There are also sounds he makes to indicate things, not necessarily words.
For Dogs, he pants.
For clocks, he sways back and forth and says "Ti-To, Ti-to!" (That would be Tick Tock)
For Cows, he moos
For Bulls, he snorts
For Monkeys, he...makes a monkey-like noise. I don't know if he could actually pick out a cow or monkey, but if you ask him what these animals say he makes the noise.
Okay, that is enough bragging for now.
