Jack and His Pet (Dead) Bug

Yes, Jack has a pet bug. And yes, it is dead. No, he did not kill it--it was long dead by the time he "found" it. Apparently some poor bug (species unidentifiable) perished on the outside of one of our window screens sometime last fall or early this spring. Normally, said bug would have been long gone via the garden hose, but I have not had the heart to remove it since Jack has formed such a strong attachment to it.

We were looking out the window waiting for Kate to get home one afternoon, when Jack noticed it. He pointed to it and asked, "Dis, dis?" I explained to him that it was a bug. I tried to get rid of it by blowing on it but it was attached pretty solidly and just flapped in the breeze. Jack thought this was pretty neat, so he blew on it, too. After that, every time we were near the window, he would ask to be picked up and point to his bug. Now, he will randomly run to this window and say, "ug?" and start blowing. You see, Jack remembered me blowing on it that first time. When we play with it, we take turns blowing on it to make it flap around. It's pretty gross when you think about it, But then again, he is a boy.
