A while back, Jack and I were getting standing in the check-out line at Kroger when Jack suddenly pointed and shouted, "Mommy! Mommy!" I looked to see where he was pointing, and it was at a magazine cover with Eva Longoria (Parker?) on it. The entire time we were in the line, he was very excited about seeing a picture of "Mommy." Kate, of course, was very pleased when I told her that Jack mistook a picture of her for a famous model/actress.
But any points the gained by that were lost yesterday. Kate was reading the paper yesterday morning, and on the cover of the USA Weekend section (or whatever it is called) was the tennis player Billie Jean King. Jack pointed at the picture and confusedly asked, "Mommy?"
Mommy was not pleased.

Kate, don't be too bummed. He was CONFIDENT that Eva Longoria was you, but confused as to whether Billie Jean King was you. He probably expected to see you in print, and thought, "Well, that's where mommy should be, but that doesn't look like her."
I'm just waiting for him to find me on a magazine cover. Of course, it would have to be a bald guy with a goatee--so unless Ron Perlman (the guy that plays Hellboy) or Jackie Earle Haley (the guy that plays the creepy sex offender in Little Children) pops up on a magazine cover he probably will not be seeing me. Which I think I am okay with.
Oh, that's too cute! My middle child did that for awhile with complete strangers! He'd just see random people and shout out titles, "Auntie! Gramma! Papa!" It was most embarrassing when, once or twice, he'd see a man who sort of resembled my hubby in the grocery store or wherever and shout out "Daddy!" Yikes! My face always got VERY red!
