Zoo

We took Jack to the Detroit Zoo this last Saturday and had a great time. I had asked Kate what she wanted to do for Mother's Day, and that is what she chose. (It was supposed to rain all day Sunday, so we went on Saturday.)

We are kind of rotten parents because we have never taken Jack to a zoo, so we plan to rectify our snafu and go a bunch this summer.

Jack had a great time. Every time we walked away from a certain animal, he waved and yelled, "Bye [animal type]! Wuv you!"

Jack wishes Clara would let him do this.

Kate and Jack checking out some sort of camel-deer-antelope thingy.

A tired boy relaxing in his stroller. (He was smiling a second before I took the picture.)

I was going to go on a rant about all of the rude and bitter people that were at the zoo, but all I will say is this: Don't bitch because most of the animals are hiding or asleep at 11:30 in the morning. Seriously, if you want to see the Lions and Gorillas do a song and dance number, watch a Disney movie.

We've found that first thing in the morning, they're a bit more receptive. Then again, you may not want to risk your son getting peed on by a lion.
