Big Boy Bed

Because of the ridiculousness of the crib recall, we decided to go ahead and buy Jack his "Big Boy Bed." [For the recall, you have to completely take the crib apart and mail back all the bolts. You then have to wait a couple of weeks before you get a voucher to buy a new one. Where do you put the baby?] Originally, we were going to wait a little while yet because we did not think he was ready. Wow, were we wrong!

We went to Ikea and Jack helped pick it out. Well, he wanted the bright blue bed that looked like something from Beetlejuice but we convinced him that this one was better. Kate also let him help pick out the sheets (various vehicles), and I let him help me put it together. So by the time it came for him to sleep in it for the first time last Sunday, he was pretty excited. He got in, Kate read him a story, and we did not hear a peep out of him all night. A week later and he still loves it. He even stays in it until we come to get him in the morning. Well, kind of. Yesterday morning there were books in his bed when I went in there, and this morning there were extra stuffed animals. But as soon as he retrieves what he wants he gets right back in.

It's hard to see from this angle, but he has a big grin on his face as he gets ready to go to bed. But you can see how he is proudly standing up straight with his chest puffed out. If it was a video, you would see him swagger over to the bed.

Here's the grin as Kate tucks him in with Mr. Giraffe and Baa-Baa.

Mommy and Jack reading a bedtime story.

Goodnight Moon, of course.
All snuggled in and ready for sleep. (And ready for Daddy to stop taking pictures.)
