Don't Eat the Monkey!

Jack received a Chimpanzee stuffed toy for Christmas, and it came with a DVD called All About Chimps. Jack decided he wanted to watch it today. The content is best described by what was going on in my head while we watched it. Now, mind you, this is from a BBC program intended for children.

Hmmm, Jack seems to really enjoy this. Maybe we should watch more nature/animal shows.
Chimps are omnivores? Well, that makes sense, I guess, if you count the bugs they pick off each other.
Wait, did the pleasant British voice just say their main source of meat is other monkeys? Huh. I did not know that.
Umm...they aren't going to show them eat other monkeys, are they? I mean, it is a kid's show. I'm all for honesty about how things in nature work, but...
Uhhh. Oh. Well, surely they will just show the chimps chasing the other monkeys and stop there.
And show the chimps catching them...
Oh. My. God.

"Daddy! What is the chimp eating?
"Um. Roast chicken."
"The chimps is eating roast chicken?"
"Yes. Roast chicken"
"Oh. Okay."

And for the record, Bambi's mother is still at work...

And Gaston doesn't plunge to a bloody death. Neither does Snow White's evil stepmother. "They're just hidin', sweetie."

Oooh, forgot about Lion King. We haven't checked that out from the libray in a while.

He hasn't seen Beauty and the Beast or Snow White, yet. I'm sure that will change when their is a little girl around, though.
