No, Jack didn't suddenly stop being funny. One, I've been rather too busy to blog. And two, a lot of his quotable moments have involved anatomy discussions between Jack and Kate, which she would brain me for posting.
Well, okay, I do have to mention one anatomy moment, though...When we were at my Dad's house a couple of weeks ago, Jack was standing starkers in front of a mirror singing, "I shake my nipples, I shake my nipples, I a handsome boy." (Repeat ad infinitum.)
Okay, two. I wasn't present when he was asking my Dad uncomfortable questions about horse naughty bits. Apparently, something was asked along the line of "Papa! Why the horses' penis keep growing?"

Jack "adopted" one of Clara's fuzzy ball toys as a pet the other day. He proclaimed it to be his "little guinea pig." The next day, it even had a name--Pepsi, My Little Guinea Pig.
No, we don't drink Pepsi.

Kate and I had a tough parenting decision to make last night.
Jack has gradually caught on that we can here what he does in his room through the monitor. ("Daddy, can you shut the monitor off tonight?") He has learned to be mostly quiet and play very softly in hopes that we can't hear him trying to stay awake. Too bad that he has to be the world's loudest whisperer.
Last night, Kate and I were eating our dinner and had assumed that the tired boy, who has not been napping well, had passed out right away. It had been close to an hour since we had tucked him in. But we began hearing a curious noise coming from the monitor. We finally figured out that it was the sound of pages being turned in a book.
I went up to his room to find the little guy propped up on his pillow with a pile of books looking happy as can be. He knew that he was supposed to be going to sleep so he had not uttered a peep in hopes that we would not catch him staying up to read. Meanie that I am, I made him put the books away and lay down. If he hadn't been such a tired little terror the past few days, I may have let him get by with it. But...well, he needs the sleep. (He is currently approaching hour number three of his nap right now...)
A little later we heard the sound of pages turning again. This time, it was Kate's turn to be the meanie. She explained to him that he wasn't in trouble, he just really needed to go to bed. She ended up having to take the books out of his room so he would go to sleep. He was really upset about this, but we could hear him snoring within five minutes of confiscating his bedroom library.
We felt really bad for making him stop because both of us were really proud that he was so determined to keep reading. Can't you just envision him in a few years hiding under his covers with a flashlight so he can keep reading?
Of course, maybe he just figured out that reading was a quieter way of staying awake than making stuffed animals dance...

Under the covers with a flashlight, how very Harry Potter. Must make you very proud!..even if it is just the slightest bit disobedient.
