Jack loves Clara.
Clara can't stand Jack and will not go anywhere near him.
Kate, who does not get along with Clara either, claims that Clara's attitude toward Amelie is completely spite driven.
Clara loves Amelie. (Well, maybe "love" is too strong a word. She tolerates her, which compared to how the cat acts toward Kate and Jack is pretty amazing.)

LOL our cat is an equal opportunity hater. She dislikes both kids equally.
Our cat's mind has gotten pickled with age. Whereas he hated me when we got married, he now loves to be near me, usually where I'm going to sit, or walk about 1 1/2 paces in front of me. Chris loves him, and calls him my tat, but Sam adores him, giggles when he's near, reaches out for driveby fistfuls of cat hair. And the Cat? He comes swishing by for more.
