Girly Girl

Although she does like to play tractors, cars, and trains with Jack, we've watched as Amelie has started gravitating to playing more with "girl" toys. It amuses us, because we have done very little to encourage her to do so. She loves playing with stuffed animals, her doll stroller, and Kate's purses

Also, she loves playing with shoes. When Jack and I walked in the door afte returning from swimming lessons a couple of weeks ago, Amelie squealed and ran toward us. Time slowed down. I swore I heard Christopher Cross singing "Arthur's Theme." Or maybe it was a little Joe Cocker, "Up Where We Belong..." Anyway, it melted my heart because I thought she was that excited to see her Daddy. But when I bent down to give her a hug, she shoved me out of the way and yelled, "Shoes!" She had played shoes while we were gone, but Jack and I provided two more pairs for her. I know where I rate.

I love watching her play on her own because she is such the little Mommy to her stuffed animals--especially the favorite, Pup-Pup.

(Note the shoes in the following pictures)

As for Jack, too bad I did not take a picture of him playing tractor crash-up derby with a purse on his shoulder.

Very cute! Anyone who says that boys and girls are born the same and that we force them into gender roles obviously doesn't have kids. ;)
