Beach Boy

After the debacle of Tuesday, we decided to be a little more relaxed the rest of our vacation. When we returned to the hotel after our day of getting lost, we all put on our swimsuits and headed to the beach. This was Jack's first beach experience and he did not like it. Every time we sat him down in the sand he started crying and reaching for Kate.
Eventually, he decided it was okay to play in the sand--as long as he was on Kate's lap and his feet were in no danger of touching the sand. He kept finding ways of sitting on her lap so that his feet were sticking up in the air.

Of course, the gulls occasionally distracted him enough that he forgot to be upset.

The next day, he did a little better on the beach. He still did not want to walk in it, but he would sit for short periods of time in the sand to play. He also did not mind going out into the water and playing. It was really shallow for quite a ways out, so he could stand in it and it did not go above his waist. We also spent a fair amount of time in the hotel's swimming pool, which he liked much more than the beach. (Sorry, no pictures of him in the pool.)
