Happy How'ween

Yesterday was Jack's "first" Halloween. At least it was his first Trick-or-Treating. The first year we decided he was too little to do anything, and last year he had a really bad ear infection.

When asked Jack what he wanted to be, he insisted he wanted to be a "Pumpkin Patch." I think it was the only thing he understood that had to do with Halloween. We looked for a pumpkin costume, but could not find one that fit him. Then, he wanted to be a horse. But again, we couldn't find any that fit. Finally, we found a Batman costume, and he became very excited about being Batman--even though he has never really seen a Batman cartoon or movie.

He actually got to go Trick-or-Treating twice yesterday. His daycare takes all the little kids around to the different departments in the medical building, and they hand out candy. (Except for the dentist who hands out toddler toothpaste, of course.) Kate was able to get out of work for an hour to go with him.
Then, last night we took him around to a couple of houses in our neighborhood, before coming back to hand out candy. Our subdivision, actually our street, is apparently the place to trick-or-treat in Belleville. The first year we lived here, we ran out of candy in twenty minutes. (And the last couple of years, we turned our lights off and were grinches.)

Last night we were a little more prepared. We made it until seven. (They started coming at five and we saw kids out still going after nine.) Jack actually had more fun handing out candy than he did going around the houses, I think. He was not shy at all about putting candy into their bags. (Bags? These kids had pillow cases--and they were full.)

Batman unmasked

Ready to fight crime. Or Trick-or-Treat. He didn't mind wearing the mask, as long as we didn't pull it all the way down. As a result, he ended up looking like a cross between Batman and a character from Battle of the Planets.

Batman springs into action.

The Batwagon isn't quite as fast as he would like it to be.

Waiting for Trick-or-Treaters and enjoying a superhero sucker. (Kate will probably smack me for putting this picture on here, but Jack looks pretty cute).

Jack made such a cute Batman! Love those little sleeve tailfins, or whatever those little things are called. Super cute! I actually think Kate looks pretty cute, little beach ball that's she's got there. Very sweet. And a boy with a lollipop is a happy boy.
