Spicy Rice and The Trickster Baby

Well, that was an entertaining week.

As previously reported, Jack was sick. Kate took him to urgent care Wednesday night because he just wasn't getting better. Luckily, he was not dehydrated and the Dr. said that this virus is just a long-lasting one. Kate was told to let his stomach rest and not let him eat for 24 hours. Well, that should be easy, we thought, because he didn't want anything to do with food all week. It was a battle to get anything in to him, which promptly would come right back up. Of course, as soon as they got in the car, the little stinker said he wanted to eat spicy rice and sausage (Jambalaya). He actually threw a fit because we wouldn't let him have it. (Or his second choice, McDonald's.) Jack even made Kate write spicy rice and sausage on the grocery list so we wouldn't forget.
Jack-Jack finally started feeling better Thursday night, and was very excited to eat. We wouldn't let him have spicy rice (yet) so we compromised with a Cheeseburger and Fridees from O'Charley's. Kate promised him that we could have Jambalaya tonight, and that is all he has talked about today.
(And yay for Kate's mom coming up to watch him this week.)

Then there is peanut, who is proving to be as stubborn and ornery as her big brother. Kate has had all the classic signs this week of being ready to go into labor--from her Dr.'s appointment earlier this week to the contractions she has been having. But she has yet to actually go into labor. We would have been fine with waiting until the due date (24th) if not for all of these little teases that we are getting. It's put us a bit on edge all week.
Too make matters worse Kate had a run in with her quasi-psychic nurse on Friday. This lady knew Kate was pregnant three or four days before we found out. She knew Peanut was a girl. (There was also something in there about her predicting/dreaming about the method of her husband's death and it coming true...) She stopped Kate yesterday and said that she would have the baby last night. She was certain and said that she could tell just by looking at her--and Kate's ear's were red, or something like that. Polish nurse then made Kate read her horoscope, which read something like "Today a captive part of you that has been imprisoned for a long time will be freed." We thought for sure we were going to the hospital last night.

Nope, no baby. So we went to IKEA and BuyBuy Baby since our day was free.

Shopping is heavy labor, maybe that'll jump start her this evening. :)

I didn't want to say anything before and curse it but I was 4.5cm, 70% effaced, and having contractions every 5-10 mintues for well over a week before I was finally just induced. Maybe girls are just more comfortable and less willing to make an appearance than boys! ;)

Hope it happens soon!

Yeah, supposedly it is fairly common for this to happen. Oh the fun!
