When a Bald Daddy Has to Do His Little Girl's Hair

Jack has a buzz cut. I have shaved my head for three years. Prior to that, I kept it cut very short for several years. It has been over ten years since I have had need to brush hair, let alone do anything that has required coiffure dexterity. (Or anytime in my life, for that matter.)

And now I have a little girl.
With lots of hair.
That I get ready most mornings.
With no Mommy to supervise.
Oh, dear.

So far, my styling repertory consists of sticking a barrette in her hair and the infamous waterfall/whale tale. The latter of which is much more effective for Amelie's current hair length. Eventually, I get it looking okay (as evidenced, I hope, by pictures that have appeared here on the blog), but normally the first attempt (or three) look like this.

Yes, there is a rubber band in there. Or scrunchy or whatever it's called.

Regardless of the bad hair, Amelie can almost pull herself up to a standing position...

We call them ponytail holders or Hair Doodlys. I never would have guessed it wasn't Kate doing her hair. You do a Fine Job! Good for you for even trying. I've seen kids at 3 whose Dad's don't even try.

LOL Rob never has to deal with this in the baby stage because our kids don't have hair. Hannah rarely wants anything in her hair (since she never got used to it as a baby) so on the rare occasion that she asks for something, I usually do it. Rob can do clips and brushes her hair though, although sometimes he parts it funny. I guess he's forgotten what it was like to have hair to part. ;)
