Pih-ey Toes

Kate started to paint her toenails Saturday night, and Amelie became very interested. She plopped herself down in Kate's lap and stuck one of her feet up in the air, while repeating "Toes? Toes?"

Kate painted them a light pink, and then proceeded to paint her own a darker pink. Amelie saw the other color and decided she liked it better. So, she ran over and jumped in Kate's lap again and pointed to the bottle of darker pink, with a foot sticking in the air. I mean, if Mommy is wearing that one, then it must be good! Kate tried to dissuade her, but Amelie would not leave her alone until her's looked like Mommy's.

She spent the rest of the weekend going up to people and sticking a foot in the air so they could see her "pih-ey toes," as she called them. (That's "pretty toes in Lily speak.)

When Jack saw them, he was at first excited. "Amelie has red toenails!"
But then he inquired (whined), "When will I be a girl so I can color mine?"

It's funny how the boys love the colored toenails. Chris has often asked me to paint his, I caved once and gave him a clear coat, you'd have thought I'd done hot pink the way he pranced about.
