Memorial Day Weekend Fun

Jack had a Big Boy weekend. He got to go away camping with his Papaw and Grandma Rose, while we stayed home. We had a bit of a rough start--it took us two hours to drive 37 miles because of traffic and very poorly marked detours. (Curse you College Corner, Ohio!) Then, ten minutes after we dropped off Jack at the state park, he tripped and busted his lip. (See previous post.) But after that, everybody had fun.

Amelie had a great time being the only child for a short while. She talked a lot more than usual. Poor little girl usually has a hard time getting a word in edgewise with her super chatty big brother. Right before we left Friday, Jack had said (yelled), "Guys, do you know why my cheeks are so red? Because I talk way too much!"
The house was so quiet with him gone.

On Saturday, we took Amelie shopping and out to dinner. The wait staff was at our table almost the entire time talking/playing with/entertaining Amelie. She is such a sweet little girl that people seemed to be really drawn to her.

Sunday morning we got up early so Amelie could "camp" for a few hours before going to our nephew Kaden's birthday party.

When we got there, she mostly just wanted to "rie" in a wagon.

Jack got to go on a short horse ride. Well, it was a pony ride. My Dad asked him which one he wanted to ride and Jack asked for the "shortest and fattest one."

We then left for the birthday party and all the cousins had fun playing together.

The party ended with a big water fight that Jack wanted no part of. You can see him playing by himself in the sandbox while Jules and Vincent Kate and Mandy open fire on the older kids.
