Mahna Mahna!

I reported in an earlier post about Jack's penchant for British music. I am sure some musicologist out there has done research that proves that singing too much "Greensleeves" can have an adverse effect on mental stability. So whenever I am trying to calm him down in the evening I try to slip in a different song to see if it works. Besides "I Vow to Thee My Country," Ravel's Bolero is the only tune that comes close to appeasing him like "Greensleeves" can--well, except for one song.

The other night Jack was gassy and very tired--a bad combination. He was inconsolable and even "Greensleeves" would not cut it. I was getting desperate and a wee bit slap-happy so I broke into the Mahna Mahna song from The Muppet Show, complete with me dancing around.

Instant Gratification.

Now that he knows about this (annoying and exhausting) tune, it is all he wants when he gets cranky. Luckily, after twenty minutes or so he lets me switch to something a little more soothing. By this time, I am more than happy to break into "Greensleeves."

(In case you have no idea what song I am talking about, click here. Complete with Swedish subtitles!)

Here is Jack shaking his keys around and playing like a big boy!

This is my new favorite picture of Jack. Too bad my white chicken legs are in the photo, though. He really looks like a little boy, and not so much like a generic baby.
