Christmas Eve Fun

We were very excited this year as it marked the first Christmas since Kate and I have been married that we woke up in our own home on Christmas morning. (It was wonderful.)

Our Christmas Eve tradition is to open one present before bedtime. Of course, there is not much surprise since it's always new pajamas. (Or pa-jAH-mas, as Jack insists on calling them. He also eats Ba-nAH-nas.)

Jack was really excited to get new footie jammies, since he did not have any. (Okay, he calls those "zippies.")

Amelie was just happy to get a present. ("Open to me!")

Then there were Kate's. Jack was really into picking out presents this year. He was super excited to pick out Mommy's pajAHmas.

Me: What kind of pajamas do you want to get Mommy?
Jack: Christmas ones.
Me: Well, yes, they will be for Christmas. But what do you want them to look like.
Jack: They have to look like Christmas! With Santa or snowflakes or snowmen. And they have to have animals on them. And let's get her one that looks like a dress.
Me: Uh...okay. Won't Mommy's legs get cold?
Jack: She can wear socks.

So that is how Kate ended up with a red flannel sleepshirt that has sock monkey's riding snowflakes. And then I let Lily pick out the socks. She was rather insistent on the red knee-highs with white polka dots and a faux fur fringe. Yup.

Posing with new Christmas jammies and ornaments.

We were getting the cookies and eggnog ready for Santa when Kate asked Jack if he wanted to leave carrots for the reindeer. He did, but then added, "They need hummus, too! They can't eat the carrots without anything for dipping!"

So the reindeer had some hummus.

Look how serious, but pleased, he was.

Jack's offering.

You can tell Kate that I, too, got knee high Christmas socks with faux fur fringe from my daughter! LOL
